FAQ
What is a hut tour?
A hut tour is a multi-day hike where you walk from mountain hut to mountain hut and stay in these huts overnight. At Meet in the Mountains we arrange everything from A to Z for your adventurous experience.
What kind of weather can I expect in the mountains during the summer months?
The weather in the mountains can vary greatly. In general the weather is nice 90% of the time, but there can also be snowfall or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. In our hut tour app you will find a weather module that helps you plan your tour.
I've never been to the mountains before, is this something for me?
We recommend beginners to first take short day trips or take part in our beginners course with Nicky from She feels alive in the mountains.
Can I also book with more than 5 people?
Certainly! Send an email to nicky@shefeelsaliveinthemountains for a competitive price quote for group bookings.
Will a mountain hiking guide come with me?
No, but if you want, you can book a guide through Nicky from She feels alive in the mountains.
Can I get an oat milk cappuccino in the mountains?
Although unlikely, sometimes you can get lucky! In general, however, 'eat what you can get' in the mountain huts.
Which cabins do I sleep in?
You will stay in beautiful authentic mountain huts and often sleep in multi-person rooms. The specific cabins will be announced after you book.
How tough is the trek?
The level of difficulty varies per tour. Complete the questionnaire and receive a personalized answer.
What if I get sick during the trip?
Consult the instructions 'what to do in an emergency' in our hut tour app. If you can still walk and only have a headache, for example, you are expected to come down yourself. Mountain rescue is only available for serious emergencies.
What should I take with me on a hut tour?
Basically everything you need fits in a 30 liter backpack! Essential items include a waterproof jacket and trousers, extra clothing, a quick-drying towel, a sheet liner and hygiene products. You can find more information in our hut tour app.
Is it safe to go alone?
Yes, on more famous routes it is safe to go alone. If you would like to rent a satellite phone for extra security, please contact Nicky. We only have one available, so be quick!
Are hut tours possible all year round?
No, hut tours are usually only possible from mid-June to mid-September, when the huts are open.
